Role of Individual in pollution prevention:
A host of major sources of pollution has been identified as the greatest source of emissions surrounding our automobiles. An assortment of gasses, such as carbon dioxide, which helps make the global warming problem worse, is a recognized culprit for air pollution.
Individually man can participate in solving the problem of pollution mainly in two ways:
1.Direct role
2. Indirect role
Direct Role of an Individual:
Direct Role of an Individual in pollution prevention are those roles which an individual does by himself. The nature cannot resolve and prevent the pollution on its own, it becomes the duty of man to resolve and prevent the pollution of the environment by himself.
The direct and main cause of pollution is human beings, only they can minimize it by preventing its increase and spread.Help more in pollution prevention than pollution control. One can remember the old saying that prevention is better than cure.
Individuals can directly take care of:-
a.Use eco-friendly products.
b.Use efficient transportation
c.Reduce energy consumption
d.Use water efficiently
e.Decrease harmful waste
f.Reduce toxins
g.Cut down the use of CFCs as they destroy the ozone layer
h.Manufacture and Operation of such devices should be encouraged that don’t pollute.
Indirect role of an individual:
Indirect role of an individual can be of various type he/she can contribute in various events for resolving the issue of pollution. Like expansion of environmental education by participating or supporting the system.
Individual should make efforts to develop awareness of environmental pollution by:
1.Publishing information on pollution
2.Organizing various exhibitions or competition
3.Sponsoring environment related advertisement.
4.Non-Governmental Organizations or encourage and help in developing NGO for social services against environmental pollution.
5.One should encourage to follow Environmental Laws by making them popular and help people to respect.
