FAQ

The Importer -Exporter Code (IEC) is a business identification number which is mandatory for Exports or Imports. No person shall make any import or export except under an IEC Number granted by the DGFT.

IEC is issued in electronic form (e-IEC) by Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.

PAN of an entity will be used for the purpose of IEC, i.e. IEC will be issued by DGFT with the difference that it will be alpha numeric (instead of 10 digit numeric at present) and will be same as PAN of an entity.

Documents required for IEC (Import Export Code) Registration: Individual's or Firm's or Company's copy of PAN Card. Individual's voter id or Aadhaar card or passport copy. Individual's or company's or firm's cancel cheque copy of current bank account. Copy of Rent Agreement or Electricity Bill Copy of the premise.

IEC Code Number Application Fee Rs. 250.00/-. Submit IEC Online Application form for instant generation of the code. The physical application containing required documents should reach DGFT RLA concerned within 15 days of its online submission.

IEC Code is unique 10 digit code issued by DGFT – Director General of Foreign Trade , Ministry of Commerce, Government of India to Indian Companies.
